ABOUT THE ARTIST
Samad Onque is an established artist whose passion is creating powerful and thought provoking images through pastels, oils and various other media.

Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, Samad received formal training as a student at Newark’s renown High School for the Arts (alma mater of the great Sarah Vaughn) along with the likes of Savion Glover and Tisha Campbell.

Mr. Onque continued his studies and interest in fine art and went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts and Sciences at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland.

Now residing in Baltimore, Samad has exhibited locally as well as Atlanta, New York and New Jersey.  He recently completed a mural for Women in Support of the Million Man March (WISOMMM), a non-profit organization in his hometown of Newark.

Samad’s work is directly inspired by his love for music and the beauty of everyday life.  In addition to pursuing his calling as a freelance artist, he works with a federally funded employment and training program for disadvantaged youth.
